Microsoft is bringing the SeaDragon onto the iPhone to showcase very cool technology Photosynth.  Seadragon powers applications like Microsoft’s 3D photo-browsing Photosynth and is incorporated into its rear-projection TouchWall product.   The technology allows users to view extremely high resolution photos without being too intensive on processing and offers very cool multidimensional viewing of objects in images.  The technology gives interesting perspective views on objects in the images in real life like 3D views.

SeaDragon is the first assault on Apple iPhone form Microsoft.   The interesting point is that Microsoft is showcasing the technology on the iPhone and not on Microftsoft based mobile devices.  The reason behind the move is likely due to lack of graphic processing power on other devices and software incapable to function on any other device.

“The aim of Seadragon is nothing less than to change the way we use screens, from wall-sized displays all the way down to cell phones, so that graphics and photos are smoothly browsed, regardless of the amount of data or the bandwidth of the network.”

Seadragon is being released as a free app that can be download form App store on iTunes.   The announcements were made through Microsoft LiveLabs and reported in TechFlash by Alex Daley of Microsoft LiveLab group product manager.
