Jolicloud going after the Netbook market
By Azam on December 9, 2008Jolicloud started by serial entrepreneur Tariq Krim is creating a new OS and custom browsing focusing on the netbook. Netbook as smaller versions of notebooks and are selling well into the market creating a large users base that would potentially benefit from Jolicloud. Accordinding to jkOnTheRun, netbook sales are out pacing iphones 6.5M to 4.7M in 3Q 2008. Jolicloud is maybe on to something interesting opportunity that is not being fully addressed and growing fast.
Jolicloud is an open sourced Linux based OS and is optimized for surfing and cloud computing. The user interface is designed in similar fashion as the IPhone in ease of use of icons with support of touch screens.
Jolicloud plans to market the software directly to consumers. The Jolicloud will replace native OS and will act as browser for web applications.
