Obama the President-Elect uses the Internet to address the through video on YouTube.  Obama plans to address the nation in weekly internet video in a similar fashion as previous Presidents used to media communications to address the nation.  Fraklin Roosevelt’s “fireside chats” on the radio was used effectively to communicate to Americans in their homes. Obama will become the first President to use the Internet effectively as a communication tool and medium to directly communicate with Americans.

Obama has been quite effective in using the Internet as a medium to connect and communicate with supporters and the American public during the election campaign.   Obama continues the strategy to use the Internet as a tool to reach out to the public as with the launch of Change.gov website to directly reach out to public audiences on plans and efforts of the new administration.

Obama Saturday recorded the weekly four-minute Democratic address for radio and then posted a YouTube video on his transition site, Change.gov., the Los Angeles Times reported.

Obama plans to post such videos weekly to spread word of his actions to a generation of voters who depend primarily on the Internet for their news, Politico reported Saturday, noting the Internet played a key role in the way Obama’s campaign organized supporters during the run-up to the election.

“The goal is to put a face on government,” said Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro.

“President-elect Obama will record the Weekly Democratic Radio Address on video and radio,” spokesman Nick Shapiro said.

“The address will be turned into a YouTube video which we will post on www.change.gov,” the official website of the Obama transition team, he said.

“No president-elect or president has ever turned the radio address into a multi-media opportunity before,” Shapiro added.

“This is just one of many ways that president-elect Obama will communicate directly with the American people and make the White House and the political process more transparent,” he said.
