Gazelle calls its service “reCommerce” rather than recycling since, for the most part, goods are being repurposed. But that still addresses the problem of electronic waste. “
“The first step to recycling is putting a product back in the marketplace,” said President and Chief Operating Officer Israel Ganot.
The Gazzel service adds an enhanced search engine and broader selection of items that includes laptops, satellite radios, and portable hard drives, cellular phones, digital cameras, and digital music players.
Users of Gazzel enter in data of gadget of interest (model number, condition, etc) and the service will make an offer for the items. Also Gazelle will pay the shipping charges and pays the user the cash amount within a few days of receiving the gadget item as long as the product’s condition corresponds as described. The trade of using Gazzel is money received is generally less than one may get selling on eBay or crtaigslist. The business looks interesting based on popularity of entropic gadgets being sold and the frequent upgrade cycle with new models and features being added on a constant basis. Gazzel will likely capture a portion of the value stored in languishing and unused digital gadgets. For items not listed, Gazzel has added social networking features like a customer-referral program and the ability to get prices for items not already listed in its catalog.
