Fora.tv adds $2M to bring the Public into the Forum

Fora.tv  is a video site that archives videos form conferences and symposiums raised an additional $2M on top of $4M earlier round of funding.  Fora cater to intellectuals by hosting video on variety of topics form leading individuals, organizations, and institutions.   The Fora is focused on a niche intellectual audience likely not to experience major traffic as general interest sites such as YouTube or similar video sharing sites.   For a sponsors have been similar to PBS type supporters such as Chevron, Pfizer, Educational Institutions, and Foundations.    

Fora.tv acquires content through partnership with organizations like the Commonwealth Club, the Aspen Institute, Council of Foreign Relations, and C-Span.  The founder Brian Gruber previously worked   for C-Span as its chief marketer. He prefers calling Fora.tv the “thinking man’s YouTube,” but admits the comparison to C-Span is apt in that Fora.tv is “about deep unfiltered, unmediated content.”  Fora.tv covers and contains speeches from the leaders and experts in the field  of science, business, technology, political, and culture.

Fora.tv compete with a number of firm in the intellectual video front with Ted.TV, BigThink and Charlie Rose to name a few.

Fora.tv did not release the details of the investors for the additional $2M amount round raised.  Fora previously received funding and initial seed round Adobe Ventures and William Hearst.
