Zvents  serves as a local search on events and serves as an advertising network raises $24M for expansion.  The technology focuses on local events such as public engagements,  store sales, food & dining specials, sporting events and live  concerts, and  allows local businesses pair their advertising efforts with local events.

Zvents plans to use the money to expand its ad network of local listings and to invest in its technology, which helps people using mobile telephones and other devices find information on events.

Nokia Comment on Investment

“We believe that the combination of next-generation mobile devices and powerful server-side search services will be a powerful channel to deliver local information to consumers,” John Gardner, managing partner of Nokia Growth Partners, said in a statement.

Zvents Comments on AT&T Investment

“The AT&T investment supports the ongoing development of Zvents’ search platform and unique local-advertising opportunity,” Zvents said in a statement.

 Zvents has an ad network that includes more than 250 media, advertising and mobile device partners.  Zvents  provides services to a number large media clients: Yellowpages.com,Viacom’s mtvU campus guides online network , Microsoft Corp’s MSN CityGuides, as well as U.S. newspaper publishers McClatchy Co  and the New York Times.

Zvents raised $24 million from several investors lead by Nokia’s venture capital arm, AT&T Inc and digital map data company Navteq.  Other investors participated  in the round include Vantage Point Venture Partners and Red Rock Ventures, which have previously invested in the company. Earlier Vantage point, Red Rock Ventures, and NetService Ventures invested $7.2M into the company.
