Google does Video for Business
By Azam on September 2, 2008Google announced the launching of Google Video for Business as an application in the Google App offering . Google Video for business allows for secure sharing video with permission for individual and across the entire company.
“YouTube™ has enabled millions of consumers to easily capture and share video at an unprecedented level, yet corporate video has remained expensive and complicated,” said Dave Girouard, president of enterprise, Google. “With Google Video for business, our customers get the ease of YouTube combined with the simple and secure sharing of Google Apps.”
The new application will be added to Google Apps Premier at no extra cost and will function very similar fashion as to many of the easy to use features of the popular YouTube video sharing application. The suite costs $50 a person annually. Video storage of up to 3GB is offered, with individual videos limited to 300MB in size.
Google believes business will benefit with the addition of video for business communication with employees with video clips for various purposes: training, company announcements, presentations and broadcasting company events.
Nucleus Research analyst Rebecca Wettemann said the video service is “a potentially very powerful business tool, particularly from the training perspective.”
