Search in a Flash

adobe logoAdobe announced that the popular Flash product is search friendly allowing search engines to index content on web sites developed with Flash technology. Advertisers and web developers will benefit in application developed in flash will gather increasing greater visibility. A large number of of Flash and features are used to develop on the web and offer greater media rich environment. The news is good for developers that would otherwise avoid using Flash in order to increase traffiic through search.

“It’s like reading the index of a book, rather than the book itself,” says Justin Everett-Church, a senior product manager for Flash.

Google and Yahoo will crawl Flash based sites and index content and rank results in search results. Search results on site using flash and .swf format were largely invisible on the web. Only static portions on the flash based sites were picked up by search engines. Now, a greater number of Flash based websites will become available on search results. Owners and developers of websites no longer need to trade off or compromise on rich content features based on Flash for traffic generated through search engines.
