In the City!N: China Style

The social network will be based on profiles where users explain their interests such as favorite music, movies, or celebrities. Users rate items of interest and then the site recommends other people in the same local areas who have similar interests.

The company has been working on recommendation engine and launched two earlier social networks to test it in different parts of China. They notice social preference differ from regional geography. The company intends to match users based on taste and link by geography. Also, the company announce facial recognition technology used in images and identify and update users accordingly. The company plan to use the technology in other application to match users based on preferences.
Simon Chan, co-founder of the site says that the site won’t be just another Facebook clone for China. “We differentiate ourselves with innovative features that fit the tastes and interests of Asian (at this stage, Chinese) users,” he said.
The company currently has 11 employees, including a former software engineer from E-Trade, In fact, Simon Chan is confident that Facebook enters China they will be able to compete with an edge of better understanding of the Asian market. Currently, the site is only focused on Chinese market, and City!n futures plans to expand in Asia and launched an English version.

The company was founded by Simon Chan (former from E trade) and Alex Tam . City!N is incorporated in Hong Kong and its offices are in Guanzhou in southern China. The current size of the team is 11. City!N has received angel funding.
